The 60th anniversary coin has a worldwide mintage of 5,000 and comes in a presentation box with a Certificate of Authenticity. The obverse bears Daniel Throne’s design of King Charles III; the reverse shows an Eastern grey kangaroo against a stylised Canberra, the “Bush Capital,” including the Royal Australian Mint.
This sovereign coin is backed by the Australian government. The Royal Australian Mint, which makes Australia’s circulating coins, opened in Canberra in 1965 as the country’s first mint outside The Royal Mint’s branch system. Before then, Australian coins were struck at its Sydney, Melbourne and Perth branches.
