The reverse depicts the Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, White Tiger and Black Tortoise entwined with a snake, along with the 2024 date and a P125 mint mark for the Perth Mint's 125th anniversary. In Chinese mythology, the guardians represent directions and seasons, appear as protectors of sacred spaces and figure in Taoist, Buddhist and Feng Shui traditions.
They are also associated with the Five Elements; some depictions add a central Yellow Dragon. The Perth Mint, located along the Swan River, also produces the Swan, Kangaroo, Koala, Lunar and Kookaburra coin series. The coin is Australian legal tender under the Currency Act of 1965.
