The obverse shows Atlantis as concentric circles described by Plato, with the city's name above, an ocean design around it and Poseidon below and to the right. The reverse has archaic runes in the Legendary Realms design, along with the metal weight and purity. In Plato's account, Atlantis was a wealthy island civilization said to have existed around 9,000 years before his time.

Its legendary inhabitants had grand temples, canals and harbors, and its kings were said to descend from Poseidon and Cleito. Rings of land and water surrounded an acropolis with palaces and temples, including one dedicated to Poseidon.

The story describes Atlantean riches of gold, silver and precious stones, followed by greed and a divine punishment of earthquakes and floods that sank the island in a single day and night. Its location remains unknown; proposed locations range from the Mediterranean and Caribbean to Antarctica. Some read the story as an allegory about power, while others search for physical evidence.
