1844 Helko Werk Germany Vario Splitting Axe, Hand Tool

The 1844 Helko Werk Germany Vario Splitting Axe is a handmade German Splitting Axe in the Hand Tools category, identified as #10059 and UPC 466746847352. Its dual-wedge head improves splitting power and efficiency while helping prevent the head from sticking or pinching in logs. The 4.5 lbs head and comfortable 30 inch handle are intended for long splitting sessions.

The patented interchangeable-head system uses C50 high-carbon steel hardened to 53-56 HRC. Bolts pass through the handle and are secured by a butt-plate retainer cap; Vario heads, handles and fastening components are interchangeable.

The grade A American hickory handle is sustainably sourced, selected for grain orientation and density, sanded to 150 grit, lightly finished with matte lacquer and given a black-dipped grip. A vegetable-tanned, full-grain leather sheath protects the blade, and a 1 Oz bottle of Axe Guard protective oil is included. Total weight is 5.75 lbs.
