Its welded, sanded and spray-coated construction resists corrosion, rust, weather, temperature changes and wear.
The tapered top and slatted shutters help keep out wildlife, precipitation, foreign objects and sparks while allowing smoke and fumes to escape. The slats also disperse wind to reduce backdraft. To install it, secure all sides to the chimney with steel nails and seal gaps at the base with construction adhesive; neither is included. Wipe the smooth surface with a damp rag to clean it.
