Cooper describes its tires as quality tires at affordable prices and says it has made them in the United States for almost 100 years. Founded in 1914 as M&M Manufacturing Company in Akron, Ohio, it made tire patches, cement and repair kits. In 1920, it acquired Giant Tire & Rubber Company, moved its headquarters to Findlay, Ohio, and began making tires.

During World War II, it supplied tires to the Allied Forces and received the Army-Navy 'E' Award for its contribution to the war effort. It became Cooper Tire & Rubber Company in 1946. The ProControl is designed for responsive handling and steering. Its polyester body ply sits under angled steel belts for strength and stiffness.

A high turn-up polyester casing adds sidewall durability, while a nylon reinforcement cap ply vulcanized to the other belts supports handling response and high-speed capability. Cooper lists a 70,000-mile treadwear warranty for H- and V-rated tires and a 60,000-mile warranty for W-rated tires. The listing also states a 70K mileage warranty.
