Golden Opportunity In the early 2000s, pre-1933 gold coins commanded exceptionally high premiums, often exceeding 200% above spot gold prices. These premiums were driven by strong collector demand, limited availability, and general enthusiasm for historic gold coins. Now is a rare opportunity to own Pre-33 $20 gold pieces at nearly decade-low premiums—levels we have not seen since 2018.

These historic U.S. gold coins not only offer strong intrinsic value but currently trade at premiums equal to or even lower than modern 1 oz Gold Eagles. With similar gold content and added historical significance, Pre-33 $20 gold coins deliver exceptional value for collectors and investors alike.content and added historical significance, Pre-33 $20 gold coins deliver exceptional value for collectors and investors alike.

Pre-33 Gold Coins Until 1933, when the United States removed the dollar from the Gold standard, the U.S. Mint produced a variety of Gold coins for use in commerce, ranging from the diminutive Gold Dollars up through the hefty $20 Double Eagle, containing almost a full ounce of fine Gold.

While minted in large numbers, untold numbers of these Gold coins were melted down in the 1930s as the United States government attempted to discontinue the circulation of Gold, even going so far as to order the confiscation and mandatory buyback of Gold coins held by citizens at the time, reducing the finite supply of these popular Gold coins.

The Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle Minted from 1907-1933, the Saint Gaudens Double Eagle coin contains 0.9675 oz fine Gold, alloyed with Copper to improve its durability and wear characteristics. The design, created by famed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, is considered by many to be among the most beautiful to ever grace U.S. coinage.

Due to the high value of $20 Gold coins, many were kept out of circulation and stored away in vaults, making high-grade coins surprisingly attainable given their age. PCGS, one of the most trusted names in numismatics, has certified this coin, guaranteeing not only its authenticity, but its exceptional condition.
